...since I've posted here, and I apologize for that. First it was because I had so much going on with planning the wedding, then the actual day was upon me, and then we had our honeymoon and the "settling-in" phase afterwards. I've thought about posting several times but just haven't been able to work up the motivation. Actually, I haven't had much motivation to do ANYTHING creative over the last few months and I don't know why. I can't tell you the last time I've written any fic, and I know it's been about a year since I scrapbooked anything.
But I want to change that and get back in the saddle, so to speak. So I'm just posting a small entry here...baby steps, I guess. :)
Do you think a marriage license should have a renewal or expiration date, just like a driver's license?
I think the person that wrote this question misphrased it - are we talking about an actual marriage having a renewal or expiration date? Because marriage licenses DO expire - you have to get married within 60 days of receiving it (at least in Ohio) or you have to get a new one.
Are there any classic holiday movies or TV shows that you look forward to watching year after year? What are your all-time favorites? Are there any you simply can't stand?
The two holiday movies that are a must for me are "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" and "A Christmas Story." Watching those two movies has become a holiday tradition with my family. My least favorite holiday movie is "It's A Wonderful Life." I just think it's cheesy and really overrated; unfortunately, it also happens to be my husband's favorite holiday movie.
Imagine that you have a time machine. Which deceased musician would you most want to travel back in time to watch perform live?
Hands-down, Elvis Presley. But it'd have to be back in the 50s, when he was still young and fresh and hot.
If you could get your exercise by taking a pill, would you? Why or why not?
Yes. I don't mind actually exercising once I'm doing it; it's getting myself motivated and finding the time. So if I could just take a pill, that would nip that problem in the bud.
If you could travel back in time, what advice would you give to your younger self?
I would tell my younger self not to get sucked into credit cards. Take out one card, charge something on it and pay it off right away to build credit. I'd also tell my future self to save, save, save. If I'd saved the majority of the money I made back in my late teens and through my 20's, I wouldn't be in the credit mess I'm in now and I could afford not only to buy a house but to help my family.
Behind every great couple, there's often a great story. What's the best (nonfiction) how-we-met story you've heard?
The couple who met on Facebook because they had the same first and last name. You can't make stuff like that up!!
What's your favorite dessert?
Steve's dad's cheesecake. It's so creamy it just melts on your tongue...it's the best thing I've ever eaten.

Another brilliant idea by our joke of a mayor:http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090616/ap_on_re_us/us_odd_ohio_driveway_tickets
I cannot wait for the recall vote in November, because this moron needs to go. Finkbeiner (has a mayor ever had a more appropriate last name?) was in office for two terms, then we had a new mayor for one term, and then our city voted Finkbeiner back in again, even after all of the stupid crap he did his last two terms!
My subject line is dead serious, by the way. That was a suggestion he made a few years back; I believe it was when BAX had cargo airplanes flying in and out at odd hours, and people were complaining about the noise.
Did you see Jordan tweeted your picture last night?http://twitpic.com/6tj23
It's the first day of the month. If you could have one wish come true this month, what would it be?
To hit the Mega Millions so I can stop worrying about money for our wedding, and how my dad's going to get by on disability.
Do you ever have recurring dreams? If so, are they good dreams or nightmares?
I have several recurring dreams. In one, I'm running in slow motion, giant bounds, and as I run my feet begin to lift off the ground, and the next thing I know, I'm flying, but still moving my legs as if I'm running. I go higher and higher, and then I wake up. I also have dreams about still being in high school at the age I am today, and that I'm still working at Ames Dept. Store. (I quit there back in 2000 and they went out of business shortly after.) I also used to have a dream that I would walk around the block in the neighborhood I grew up in, and when I got back to my house, it wasn't my house. Everything looked the same, but the street name was different, and another family lived in our house. I also have a lot of tornado dreams, usually when I'm stressed out or big changes are happening in my life.
If you could live in any era of history, which one would you choose?
That's an easy one. I've always wanted to go back to the late 1960's and experience it all first-hand.
Soooo....yeah. I've been really busy with the wedding planning and everything else lately and just haven't had the time to post here. But I've got another hour before I have to leave for my doctor's appointment and then work, and Steve's still sleeping, so I have a bit of time to post.
Wedding planning is rolling along, though I will say I'll be glad when it's actually The Day. Every time I think I have something sorted out, I hit a brick wall and have to figure out an alternative. For example, the pastor and the location for the ceremony and reception. We were going to get married at Steve's brother and sister-in-law's church, and have the reception there as well. We had a meeting with the pastor...and it was bizarre. It's a nondenomitational (sp?) church, but the pastor had an issue with Steve being divorced. He wanted to know if the divorce was due to adultery, and when Steve said no, he told Steve that he would have to be saved again in order to wash away the sin of divorce, and then said that since his ex-wife hadn't remarried, for Steve to marry me would be adultery. WHAT? So the sin of divorce is bigger than the sin of adultery? It made no sense to me. Then we got talking about church, and I told him about the church I attend - which is a fairly large church, it's got three campuses in the area. He started really putting my church down, saying that they water down their message and they're not effective because they're so big. To me, that smacked of envy - and isn't that one of the seven deadly sins? Anyway, at the end of the meeting he said he would marry us and set up a schedule for marriage counseling. Then two days later he called my cell phone, and left me a voice mail message saying that God was leading him in a different direction and he wouldn't be able to marry us after all. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper.
But luckily, Shelly works with a lady whose husband is a pastor for a church in Rossford. I called him and he said he'd be happy to marry us, and all he asked for was a donation to his church. We're supposed to meet with him sometime this month; I left him a message yesterday to set up an appointment. Shelly's told me he's a very kind man; I think he's going to be the right one to marry us. We found a new location too - the pastor at the other church said we could still use their room but after the way he treated us, I didn't want the wedding or the reception to be held there. We're going to have the wedding and the reception at the Richfield Center Township Hall in Berkey, not far from our house. It's two stories - we got the building for only $50 because we know someone in the township who rented it for us. Wedding will be upstairs - then food downstairs and dancing back upstairs.
I've had my dress bought since February - I found a gorgeous ivory dress at JCPenney's. It's actually a prom dress, but you can't tell by looking at it. I got an awesome deal on it too. The maid of honor and bridesmaids dresses are all paid for. Danielle and Jennifer's dresses already came in - my sister and Shelly's dresses should be in by the 20th. I got them at David's Bridal - not keen on that place, but again, great deal on the dresses. I bought artificial flowers and Shelly put together the bouquets, boutonnaires, and corsages for everyone. Brenda has bubble balls that she said I can have after June (another friend of hers needs them for her wedding too), and we're going to put some colored stones and votive candles in them for the centerpieces for the reception.
I really, really wanted All 4 It to play at the reception, but Larry quoted me $500 for the night, and that's just not in our price range. I asked him if they could come down any, but he never answered me. My dad's friend DJ's, but he's booked that night, so he referred me to a friend of his who DJ's. That guy is sending me a packet of information in the mail, but I'm afraid he's going to be too expensive as well. If worse comes to worse, I guess we'll just hook the computer up to some speakers and find someone who can play DJ just for the first dance, father/daughter dance, etc.
We're still working on food - Steve wants to do a pig roast and then we'll make the side dishes - potato salad, baked beans, etc. I just finished the guest list this week and I'll probably start working on invitations next week. I want to have them out in the mail by June, so RSVP's can be in by the first week of August.
Sigh. Any wonder why I'm tired all the time??? ;)
(And I had to use my House icon because....wow. The House/Cuddy makeout scene last night was pretty hot, I have to admit. Though I always rooted for House and Cameron to hook up....)
What is your favorite old-school video game?
Either "Space Invaders" or "Pac-Man." Good times.
What is your favorite holiday-specific candy or treat?
Gotta be Cadbury's eggs. Yum-o.
If you knew that a friend's significant other was cheating on him or her, would you tell your friend the truth or keep it to yourself?
I would tell my friend the truth. I think that I have good enough relationships with my girls that I could tell any one of them about something like that. Besides, if you hide it and they found out about it later on, it's sure to blow up in your face.
I'm hoping that someone here who is more Twitter-knowlegeable than I am can help me. Every time I try to update at the Twitter website from my computer, I get a window that pops up saying that I need to enter my username and password to access Twitter.com's server. I enter my username and my password, and then my Internet Explorer automatically shuts down and restarts, kicking me off the website. It will not let me update from my computer.
Does anyone know why it does this, or how I can keep IE from restarting?? I hate trying to Twitter from my phone because it doesn't have a QWERTY keyboard and it takes forever for me to text.
